What is Hard Water?

‘Hard’ water has a high mineral content (in contrast with ‘soft’ water) and is formed when water percolates through deposits of limestone and chalk-containing minerals such as calcium and magnesium.

Hard water is the water that contains a high amount of minerals like calcium, magnesium, and sometimes manganese and other cations. Hard water occurs under the natural condition when the water moves through rocks like limestone and chalk that consist of minerals like calcium carbonate and magnesium carbonate.

Calcium and lime build up from hard water is very damaging to machinery, appliances, pumps, plumbing and more. It causes premature wear and tear, reduces efficiency, increases power consumption and leads to shorter product lifetimes. It can pose very serious problems in industrial settings where water hardness can lead to costly breakdowns costing thousands.

This mineral build up can affect all machinery and equipment where water goes through it eg: swimming pool pumps, water heaters, boilers, cooling towers, pumps, showers, coffee machines, kettles, washing machines and so many more.

There is a serious problem with hard water all over india but particularly so in regional areas.
